      GROUP MARKETING MANAGER (X1) LUSAKA

Overview

As the Group Head of Marketing, you will be responsible for crafting and executing high-impact marketing strategies across multiple divisions and subsidiaries. You will lead a team of marketing professionals, manage budgets, and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure consistent brand positioning and maximum ROI on all marketing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and Communicate Marketing Strategies & Budgets

  • Formulate comprehensive marketing strategies and budgets in line with overall business goals.
  • Present and secure alignment and sign-off from relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee the implementation of approved plans, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely execution.

2. Market Research & Insights (R&I)

  • Establish best practices for gathering and analyzing market intelligence on customers, channels, categories, and competitors.
  • Translate insights into localized brand strategies and implementation plans across all media and touchpoints.
  • Provide expert guidance on marketing and promotional tactics to drive growth and competitive advantage.

3. Strategy Implementation & Budget Management

  • Lead the end-to-end execution of marketing strategies, ensuring alignment with brand guidelines and corporate objectives.
  • Manage trade and consumer marketing budgets, maximizing ROI and achieving cost efficiencies.
  • Continuously evaluate campaign performance, adapting tactics to optimize results.

4. Multi-Channel Marketing Management

  • Oversee marketing activities for the entire product portfolio across diverse channels
  • Ensure brand consistency and effectiveness in each channel, driving both revenue and brand equity.

5. New Product Development & Launches

  • Spearhead the promotion of new product development and packaging initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Plan and execute product launch strategies to achieve rapid market penetration and strong consumer adoption.

6. Campaign Delivery & Brand Growth

  • Drive the swift execution of new marketing campaigns across the various media platforms.
  • Increase cross-segment product visibility and enhance key brand metrics such as awareness, preference, equity, and share of voice.

7. Collaboration with Divisions & Subsidiaries

  • Partner with individual divisions to develop and implement tailored marketing and advertising strategies.
  • Offer strategic guidance and support to ensure cohesive, high-impact campaigns across all business units.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to create a Marketing Center of Excellence (CoE) that develops, implements, and maintains best practices, standards, and processes for marketing activities.

8. Event & Sponsorship Management

  • Oversee the company’s presence at trade shows, conferences, and other key industry events.
  • Work closely with Corporate Affairs to ensure a consistent brand image and impactful engagement.

9. Agency & Vendor Management

  • Select, negotiate, and manage relationships with third-party service providers.
  • Ensure all partners align with the overall marketing strategy and deliver high-quality, on-brand work.

10. Media Relations & Corporate Communications

  • Lead the implementation of media-relations strategies to foster positive coverage and enhance corporate goodwill.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to ensure brand reputation and messaging are consistently upheld.

11. Team Leadership & Development

  • Direct and mentor an effective marketing team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
  • Encourage a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the marketing function.

12. Additional Responsibilities

  • Undertake other duties as may be assigned, ensuring alignment with the role’s objectives and the organization’s strategic direction.

  • FMCG Market Knowledge: deep understanding of FMCG dynamics, including distribution channels, trade marketing, and consumer behaviour.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the FMCG sector.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multi-brand portfolios, executing product launches, and driving brand growth.
  • Proficiency in marketing analytics tools and a track record of data-driven decision-making.
