The ideal candidate must be willing to be based full-time at the exploration camps, overseeing field teams and contractor activities. They must take ownership of all technical aspects of their licence areas, from mapping and sampling through to drill target identification.
1. JOB PURPOSE
The Exploration Geologist will spearhead the company’s greenfield and brownfield mineral exploration projects in Zambia, providing on-site geological leadership and expertise.
This role is field-based at remote exploration sites and is responsible for managing all stages of exploration – from initial target generation and mapping through drilling and preliminary resource evaluation – while ensuring that all geological data is diligently collected and securely stored in compliance with company SOPs and international standards (JORC, SAMREC, NI 43-101).
The geologist will also maintain the highest standards of Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management in line with company policy and Zambian regulations (ZEMA/MMMD), ensuring safe and responsible exploration practices at all times.
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
i) Target Identification:
Conduct thorough desktop research and regional geological evaluations to identify and prioritize prospective areas in Zambia with potential for Copper (Cu), Cobalt (Co), Gold (Au), Lithium (Li), Manganese (Mn), and other strategic minerals.
ii) Exploration Planning & Execution:
Plan and execute exploration programs, including geological field reconnaissance, detailed mapping and map updates, geochemical sampling and analysis, and oversight of geophysical survey work. Adjust exploration strategies in real-time based on field observations and results.
iii) Drill Target Generation:
Interpret and integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to generate and refine drill targets for testing promising anomalies and mineralization zones.
iv) Drilling Oversight:
Supervise drilling contractors and manage all drilling operations on site, including logging of core and RC chips (geological and structural logging), sample collection, and ensuring accurate data capture and database updates.
v) Geological Modeling:
Develop geological and structural models of discovered mineralization, including preliminary classification of mineral deposit types and styles of mineralization. Continuously update and refine models as new data is obtained.
vi) Data Management & QA/QC:
Evaluate and validate all geological data and assay results, implementing rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures to ensure data accuracy and integrity for use in resource modeling.
vii) Resource Estimation:
Perform preliminary internal mineral resource estimations to quantify the mineralization potential of projects, providing a basis for economic evaluation and further exploration strategy.
viii) Contractor and Service Management:
Manage exploration-related contracts (e.g. analytical laboratories, drilling contractors, geophysical survey providers) to ensure field activities are executed as per contract terms and industry quality standards. Verify that contractors deliver results to acceptable technical standards and within set timelines.

ii) Professional Membership:
Registered member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) (mandatory) and member of the Geological Society of Zambia (GSZ) (preferred).
iii) Experience:
Minimum of 4 years’ mineral exploration experience covering both greenfield and brownfield projects. Experience in the Zambian mining sector or similar geological environments (Central African Copperbelt, etc.) is highly desirable.
iv) Exploration Track Record:
Demonstrated track record of success in early-stage exploration, including significant contributions to target discovery and resource development. Proven ability to lead field teams and make sound technical decisions with limited data.
v) Other Requirements:
