Background
Lungisa Solutions is seeking an Operations Manager responsible for the overall planning, coordination and control of all operations across their services: solar, electrical, general maintenance, and construction equipment hire.
Key responsibilities:
1. Operational Planning & Execution: Planning and scheduling daily/weekly work orders, and efficiently allocating teams, vehicles, tools, and materials to sites. This also includes overseeing plant & equipment hire operations.
2. Technical & Quality Oversight: Reviewing and approving designs/BOQs for solar and electrical jobs, and ensuring installations comply with standards. This also covers implementing quality control checks and sign-off procedures.
3. People Management: Supervising a team of at least 10 technical staff, handling performance management, and conducting daily toolbox talks and weekly operations meetings.
4. Customer Relations & Commercial Support: Conducting site visits, supporting the preparation of quotations, tracking the sales pipeline, and managing escalated customer complaints.
5. Asset & Inventory Management: Maintaining records and ensuring preventative maintenance for all construction equipment, and controlling tools, spares, consumables, vehicle utilization, and fuel.
6. Safety, Compliance & Documentation: Implementing and enforcing HSE policies, ensuring proper PPE, maintaining project documentation (e.g., job cards, as-built records), and ensuring statutory and company policy compliance.
7. Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing process improvements to reduce turnaround time, costs, and rework, and providing regular operational reports and KPIs to management.
Requirements:
A Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is required.
Experience in operations or project management within a solar/electrical/construction/maintenance environment is an advantage.
Valid driver's license, willingness to travel frequently between sites, strong customer relations, and basic financial/commercial understanding.
