Responsibilities or duties

1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To operate, control, and maintain assigned process equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production in line with quality, safety, and operational standards.

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Process Operations

Operate and monitor process equipment such as brewhouse, fermentation, filtration, blending, or packaging support systems as applicable.

Control process parameters (temperature, pressure, flow rates, time) according to standard operating procedures.

Execute start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures safely and efficiently.

Ensure production targets are achieved with minimal downtime and waste.

2.2 Quality & Food Safety

Adhere to quality, food safety, and hygiene standards (GMP, HACCP).

Conduct in-process quality checks and take corrective action when deviations occur.

Ensure products meet required specifications and standards.

Accurately complete production and quality records.

2.3 Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

Comply with all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.

Identify hazards and report incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

Use PPE correctly and maintain good housekeeping (5S).

Participate in safety talks, risk assessments, and audits.

2.4 Equipment Care & Maintenance

Perform routine inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance of process equipment.

Identify equipment faults and escalate to maintenance teams promptly.

Support planned maintenance and breakdown repairs.

Follow lock-out/tag-out and permit-to-work procedures.

2.5 Continuous Improvement

Participate in process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and cost control.

Support waste reduction, yield improvement, and energy efficiency initiatives.

Train and guide junior operators where required.

3. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Process efficiency and output

Product quality and compliance

Safety performance (zero incidents)

Equipment uptime

Accuracy of production documentation

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

4. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Grade 12 Certificate (minimum).

Trade Test / Craft Certificate in Brewing, Chemical Processing, Mechanical, or related field.

Diploma in Brewing or Process Technology is an added advantage.

5. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Strong understanding of industrial/process operations

Ability to interpret process parameters and SOPs

Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Good communication and teamwork

High attention to detail and discipline

Experience needed

2–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or process environment preferred.

6. WORKING CONDITIONS

Shift work, including nights and weekends

Factory/plant environment

Exposure to heat, chemicals, pressure systems, and noise
