Background
Breath of Heaven Children’s Ministries (BOHCM) is a registered NGO dedicated to helping meet the needs of orphans in Zambia. Located in Barlastone Park, Lusaka, the Ministry currently incorporates a Children’s Village, which provides residential care for 100 orphans and vulnerable children, a Primary & Technical Secondary School, a Vocational Training College, a Medical Clinic, and a Community Church. We are looking for a skilled Property Maintenance & Development Administrator to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of all maintenance activities within our organization.
The Maintenance Administrator will provide overall supervision and leadership of the Property Maintenance & Development, to formulate and implement the property development and maintenance policies and strategies of BOHCM, to ensure up-to-date development and maintenance information is available to the Country Director. The ideal candidate will have experience in facilities management or a related field, strong communication skills, and proficiency with maintenance management software. The Administrator will play a crucial role in minimizing downtime, optimizing resources, and ensuring that all equipment and facilities are maintained to the highest standards. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with various departments, contribute to process improvements, and support the overall efficiency of our operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develops and ensures implementation of a comprehensive maintenance plan.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and adhoc reports on the maintenance and development of BOHCM Properties.
- Manage and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
- Manage and track work orders from initiation to completion
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment
- Liaise with vendors and contractors for service and repairs
- Process invoices and purchase orders related to maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Support the maintenance team with administrative tasks
- Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and reorder as needed
- Prepare reports on maintenance performance and costs
- Assist in developing and updating maintenance policies and procedures
- To perform any other duties as assigned by the Country Director from time to time
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Must be a fully paid-up member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Construction, Maintenance and Property Management
- Experience with grant management and donor reporting.
- Exemplary Christian character and active in a local Christian church
- Effective communicator, creative problem-solver, collaborative decision-maker
- Strong organizational and project management skills
