JOB PURPOSE

The Technical ICT Officer – Business Systems will be responsible for administering and supporting enterprise applications, various ICT software, and database systems. The role involves ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability of business-critical applications including Office 365, ERP systems, web platforms across Windows and Linux platforms.

KEY RESULT AREAS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (MAIN DUTIES)

Departmental Planning and Budgeting

  • Provides input into the departmental workplan and budget.
  • Minimizes operational costs by ensuring that divisional expenditure remains within budget approval and savings made from budget.

Design of ICT Systems

  • Ensures that ICT systems are designed, developed and implemented to meet specific IDC needs.
  • Gather User Feedback from newly implemented systems.
  • Develop documentation and training materials for newly implemented systems.

Business Applications

  • Manages and supports the installation and configuration of the organization’s Software and Business Applications
  • Defines Business Applications and Software requirements to meet the organizational needs.
  • Ensures all applications and software comply with regulatory requirements and standards
  • Perform administration and maintenance of the various databases e.g. (Microsoft SQL, MySQL instances)
  • Perform patching, user management, and resource monitoring
  • Implement basic shell or PowerShell scripts for automation and reporting
  • Implement automation and productivity enhancements using Power Platform and other available software
  • Configure, monitor and maintain IIS (Windows Web Server), Apache, Tomcat, and Nginx on Linux
  • User account management, permission configuration, system updates, troubleshooting and maintenance for all applications
  • Undertake effectively configuration of user profiles on all systems, maintaining appropriate policies for the different user types.

Backup Measure

  • Ensures Applications and database backups for all the systems are done at the scheduled times
  • Regularly verify the integrity of backups.

Policy Initiation and Implementation

  • Supports the review and implementation of the IDC ICT Policy Manual with management’s approval.
  • Ensures all ICT policies and procedures are adhered to.

Planned Maintenance

  • Executes planned daily and quarterly routines of software updates and maintenance checks for all the applications.
  • Plans and executes the implementation of ICT systems maintenance in the company.

Relationships

  • Maintain close liaison with user departments.
  • Manage relationships with vendors.

Research

  • Research and analyses on matters that will add value to all areas of ICT systems.

Advisory

  • Provides ICT advisory service to all staff in the company

Improved financial sustainability

  • Ensure effective leverage for cost cutting containment measures.

Improved user satisfaction

  • Ensure to provide efficient and effective technical support.

Increased efficiency

  • Develop and update systems workflows
  • Ensure improved efficiency.
  • Ensure enhanced risk management.

Enhanced Entity Risk Management

  • Ensure improved enterprise risk management.

Enhanced Employee Engagement and Performance

  • Timely submission of completed performance contract to supervisor.
  • Suggest and propose initiatives to support corporate values suggested to supervisor.
  • Ensure submission of completed Performance Appraisal form to supervisor.

Health and Safety

  • Take reasonable care for own health and safety as well as that of other employees, clients, and others as may be required from time to time.

Furtherance of Company’s Interests

  • Exercise the powers and duties generally exercised by Technical ICT Officer in the furtherance of the interests of the company as may be authorised and or delegated by the Supervisor.

Meetings

  • Prepare key departmental presentations, talking points and any other information required as assigned.

Any other Duties

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Professional Qualification:

  • Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, and/or equivalent Professional Qualification in relevant field from reputable institution.
  • Professional Membership, ICTAZ.

Skill Specifications:

  • Excellent problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certifications in Microsoft (e.g. M365, Azure AD, Co-Pilot), Linux, or SQL Server, ITIL or Cobit5 are an added advantage
  • Handson experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Sage ERP platforms, Windows/Linux system administration, IIS, Apache, Nginx, and SQL based databases
  • Experience with latest technologies such as AI is an added advantage
