JOB DETAILS:
Should be be able to
1. Read and understand civil and construction drawings.
2. Set out the work area, following engineering plans
3. Use hand and power tools to cut and bend bars or mesh
4. Tie steel reinforcement bars (rebars) to build cages
5. Fit spacers and chairs (supports)
6. Use rebar to build special casts to keep setting concrete in place
7. Fix steel to concrete bases
8. Install beams and pre-cast slabs.
9. Able to use welding/grinding equipment to shape and cut reinforcement to desired shapes according to bending schedules.4. Shape and bends metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
10. Align parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instrument.
11. Join metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
12. Examine welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
13. Cleans and smoothes welds by filing, chiseling and grinding.
Requirements
Minimum of grade 12 certificate and relevant trade certificate with 3 years working experience

Level of Education: professional certificate
