JOB DETAILS:
1. Read drawings to calculate materials needed
2. Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto a slab or foundation
3. Lay bricks, blocks, or stones according to plans
4. Ensure that a structure is perfectly vertical and horizontal, using a plumb bob and level
5. Clean and polish surfaces with hand or power tools
6. Clean excess mortar with trowels and other hand tools
7. Fill expansion joints with the appropriate sealing materials
8. Lay out patterns or foundations using a straightedge
9. Break or cut bricks, stones, or blocks to their appropriate size
10. Should be be able to set the forms that hold concrete in place
11. Install reinforcing rebar or mesh wire to strengthen the concrete
12. Signal truck drivers to facilitate the pouring of concrete, Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using a trowel, float, or screed.
13. Mold expansion joints and edges,
14. Monitor curing (hardening) to ensure a durable, smooth, and uniform finish,
15. Apply sealants or waterproofing to protect concrete.
Requirements
Minimum of grade 12 certificate and relevant trade certificate with 3 years working experience
