PURPOSE
This exciting opportunity exists in Fraser Alexander Zambia to assist artisans with the general maintenance of all mechanical equipment, i.e., crusher/gearboxes/pumps, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance and fabrication
- Punctual adherence to site-specific time schedule/shift times.
- Attend safety talks.
- Implement maintenance schedules.
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment.
- Assist the artisan with maintenance tasks, e.g., repacking a pump, changing a barrel, and pumping internals.
- Complete tasks as per issued job cards.
- Ensure the safekeeping of tools.
Health and safety
- Follow written Safe Work Procedures.
- Wear the correct PPE for each specific task.
- Ensure that all safety procedures and site emergency procedures are followed as per training and site-specific standards.
- Ensure emergency preparedness among all team members.
- Report and record unsafe acts, conditions, and incidents.
- Participation in all training-related activities.
Inspection and reporting
- Identify and prioritise equipment in need of maintenance and repairs.
- Conduct plant inspection of all equipment/tools and default reports in the area of responsibility.
- Report all faults and problems to the Foreman.
Housekeeping
- Practice good housekeeping around all work areas.
- Cleaning of tools.
- Store equipment properly.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Trade Test Certificate
EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years’ experience in any of the following fields: Mining/ Construction
- Previous exposure to an engineering discipline is preferable.
