JOB DETAILS:
Education Development Center (EDC) is a global non-profit that advances lasting solutions to improve education, promote health, and expand economic opportunity, with a focus on vulnerable and under-served populations.
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has selected EDC to implement the USAID Let’s Read Project, a 5-year, $48.9 million project in the five target provinces of Eastern, Muchinga, Southern, Northwestern and Western Zambia that works to improve reading outcomes for approximately 1.4 million children attending pre-primary (kindergarten) through to Grades 3 and provide professional development for teachers to support reading interventions in Zambian public and community schools.
Scope of Work: As a part of project implementation, USAID Let’s Read will be conducting teacher training events in each of the 5 target provinces starting in December 1, 2020 and January 8, 2021. During this time, USAID Let’s Read will also distribute various teaching and learning materials (TLMs) to be used in schools.
The project thus seek to engage qualified and experienced short-term Data Clerks to assist with various data needs during these events. The main responsibility will involve registration of event participants using both electronic and hardcopy tools and will also include data capture for all TLM distributions. .
Specific activities will include:
• Registration of event participants using both electronic and other paper based tools
• Data capture of TLM distributions using both electronic and other paper based tools
• Verification of captured data
• Consolidating daily reports on event participants and materials distributed
• Sorting, organizing and managing data collection instruments.
• Scanning documents into document management systems or databases
• Data Assistants will also be required to comply with data integrity and security policies.
Period of Performance:
Consultants shall be expected to perform services between December 1 2020 and January 8 2021and successful candidates must be available to take the position immediately.

Minimum Qualifications:
a. Diploma in IT, M&E and Data Management with 1-2 years’ proven experience in data collection and data entry tasks
b. Must have a good understanding of databases
c. Ability to use mobile data collection tools eg KoBoCollect, ODK, SurveyToGo, Survey123 or other data tools etc.
d. Good command of English, both oral and written.
e. Ability to work with speed and accuracy;
f. Capacity to understand instructions and work under pressure
