Bhascore Mining Zambia Limited is seeking an Accountant.
Responsibilities or duties
Prepare and post journals, maintain the general ledger and produce monthly trial balances and management accounts.
Perform bank, debtor, creditor and other balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis and resolve variances.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, receipts, supplier payments and ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
Handle statutory compliance: compute and arrange timely filing/payment of PAYE, VAT, WHT, income tax, NAPSA and other ZRA requirements applicable to the parent & sister companies.
Participate in the preparation of annual financial statements and support both internal and external audits with schedules and explanations.
Maintain and update the fixed asset register, calculate depreciation and assist with asset verification exercises.
Assist with cash flow management, including bank transactions and preparing basic cash flow forecasts.
Expense logging for exploration and mining projects of the company.
Monthly budget preparation for office & field-related activities and managing cash flows related to it.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
Use accounting packages (e.g. Sage, SAP, Pastel/PayDay, or similar) and Excel to maintain accurate records and generate reports tailored to management needs.
Strong understanding of IFRS-based accounting principles and local tax/regulatory requirements.
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to meet tight monthly and year-end deadlines.
Analytical skills to interpret financial data, investigate anomalies and provide explanations to management.
Good communication skills for interacting with auditors, ZRA, banks, suppliers and internal departments.
Integrity, confidentiality and adherence to professional ethics.
Experience needed
3–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, often with past experience working in the mining sector will be preferred.
