The role of the Accounts Assistant
The Accounts Assistant will provide support to the finance manager and leadership team by helping to prepare financial statements, accounts, budgets, processing invoices and preparing statutory returns. An Accounts Assistant is a key member of the finance team who is responsible for providing administrative support.
Job description
Supporting the finance manager, the leadership team (director and country coordinator) and the wider Ubumi team on:
– Performing reconciliations of bank accounts
– Processing expense requests for approval
– Processing payments and invoices accurately and within expected time periods
– Verifying financial statements, ledgers and accounts and making corrections where appropriate
– Preparing statutory returns i.e NHIMA, NAPSA, ZRA
– Taking minutes in meetings and other administrative duties
– Monitoring daily communications and answering any queries
– Updating and maintaining filing systems
– Providing input to budget reviews
– Data entry into Quickbooks
– Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies
– Performing administrative duties
– Help out where needed
Assistant Accountant job qualifications and requirements
A Diploma in Accounting or relevant field preferred.
Qualifications
– The ability to produce accurate financial reports
– Excellent attention to detail
– Discretion as there will likely be sensitive information and figures discussed
– The ability to work to strict time constraints
– The ability to prioritise work
– An organised and methodical approach to a task
– Ability to follow instructions
– Ability to take leadership on a task and work independently
– Competent IT skills, particularly proficiency with spreadsheet software
Driving license is a requirement.
The assistant will get on-the-job training
