Job description:
PURPOSE
To conduct fire assay analysis on geological and process samples to determine the concentration of precious metals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Conduct fire assay analysis: Perform analysis on geological and process samples using fire assay, Atomic absorption spectroscopy, and ICP
- Operate laboratory Equipment: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including furnaces, Atomic absorption spectrometers, and ICP instruments.
- Prepare samples: Prepare samples for analysis, including weighing, dissolving, and diluting.
- Record and report results: Record and report results accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with laboratory procedures and quality control standards.
- Maintain laboratory equipment: Performing routine Equipment checks.
- Perform any other work as instructed by the superiors
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in laboratory science technology or Assayer certificate
- Certifications in fire assay or related fields
EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 3 years experience in fire assay techniques and laboratory procedures
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Computer Literate
- Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Standby work when required
- Exposure to dust/heat/noise
