WHY SERVE ON OUR BOARD?

As a board member, you will:

  • Influence strategic decisions that impact communities across Zambia
  • Apply your expertise to strengthen governance, sustainability, and advocacy
  • Champion innovation, partnership, and accountability in a dynamic nonprofit

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Governance and Oversight

  • Define strategic direction and organizational priorities
  • Ensure ethical, legal, and transparent operations
  • Monitor risks and institutional performance

Financial Stewardship

  • Review and approve annual budgets and financial reports
  • Guide fundraising strategies and financial integrity

Policy and Advocacy

  • Support development and review of organizational policies
  • Actively represent and promote the Foundation’s work

Leadership and Succession

  • Help recruit, onboard, and mentor new board members
  • Contribute to leadership transitions and capacity-building

Community Engagement

  • Represent the Foundation in stakeholder and donor engagements
  • Leverage networks to promote the Foundation’s mission and goals

Evaluation and Accountability

  • Monitor program impact and effectiveness
  • Promote organizational learning and alignment with strategic goals

STRATEGIC PRIORITIES & REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Applicants must apply under the Strategic Priority that best matches their experience and qualifications.

Strategic Priority 1: Agriculture & Agribusiness

We seek individuals with:

  • Expertise in smallholder farming and out-grower schemes
  • Understanding of cash crop cultivation and climate-smart agriculture
  • Experience in value chains and agribusiness market linkages

Strategic Priority 2: Partnerships & Resource Mobilization

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Proven capacity to build networks with donors, NGOs, and corporates
  • Knowledge of CSR strategy and stakeholder engagement
  • Skills in fundraising, partnership development, and grant acquisition

Strategic Priority 3: Education, Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Growth

We welcome individuals with:

  • Experience in vocational training and workforce development
  • Expertise in supporting startups, SMEs, and business incubation
  • Familiarity with microfinance, seed funding, and enterprise scaling

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

We are seeking board members who are:

  • Committed to participating in quarterly board meetings and committee work
  • Able to serve an initial three-year term
  • Willing to contribute time, skills, networks, or financial support
  • Demonstrated leaders with integrity and a strategic mindset
  • Passionate about community empowerment and inclusive development
