Our client, a leading multinational mining company, is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the financial management of its Zambian operations. The CFO will work closely with the CEO and senior leadership to drive financial performance, operational efficiency, and compliance within the mining and smelting sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with corporate goals, advise on capital allocation, risk management, and funding for major mining and smelting projects.
- Financial Planning & Budgeting: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring; ensure cost control across operations and evaluate CAPEX/OPEX efficiency.
- Reporting: Produce accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports in compliance with US GAAP, IFRS, and local standards; liaise with the Group CFO to ensure consistent reporting across the company.
- Treasury & Stakeholder Management: Oversee liquidity planning, foreign exchange risk, and banking relationships; maintain strong ties with banks, auditors, and financial institutions.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and internal control procedures; manage internal and external audits.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high performance culture and supporting skills development and succession planning.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; Master’s/MBA is an advantage.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or CPA).
- At least 10 years’ finance experience, with 5 years in senior leadership within the mining industry.
- Knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS, and multinational reporting
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and strong stakeholder management skills.
- Solid understanding of Zambia’s mining sector and regulatory environment.
- Should be a member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
