Position Overview:
The Commis Chef will work under the supervision of senior chefs to assist in the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in line with Ciela Resort & Spa’s fine dining standards. This role is ideal for a passionate, eager-to-learn individual who wants to grow within a professional and high-end kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items across various kitchen sections
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- Follow instructions from senior chefs and carry out duties with accuracy and efficiency
- Support in the proper storage and labelling of food items
- Ensure that all mise-en-place is prepared ahead of service times
- Report any kitchen equipment issues or maintenance needs promptly
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and food safety standards
- Learn and apply culinary techniques as directed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef
- Assist in receiving and organizing kitchen deliveries
Qualifications:
- Basic culinary training or a certificate in food preparation is an advantage
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen is a plus
- Strong willingness to learn and grow in a fine dining environment
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced settin
- Good time management and attention to detail
- Flexible schedule, including availability for weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Professional appearance and a positive attitude
Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with standard recipes Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for guests at the bar Maintain a clean and organized bar area at all times Restock bar inventory and supplies as needed Ensure all beverages are served responsibly and in line with legal and resort guidelines Engage with guests, offer drink recommendations, and provide knowledgeable service Handle cash and card transactions accurately Support bar opening and closing procedures Collaborate with restaurant and service staff to ensure smooth operations
Prior experience as a bartender or barman in a fine dining or luxury hospitality setting Excellent knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and courteous attitude Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays Certification in bartending or mixology is an added advantage Responsible and trustworthy with handling of cash and alcohol
