Grassroot Soccer Zambia (GRS) is an adolescent health organization that leverages the power of soccer to equip young people with the life-saving information, services, and mentorship they need to live healthier lives. Founded in 2005, GRS works across five provinces (Lusaka, Eastern, Muchinga, Northern and Copperbelt), and brings deep experience in youth-led sexual and reproductive health (SRH) programmes, HIV, gender based violence and mental health.
Grassroot Soccer Zambia is seeking to fill the following Intern positions, which will work closely with various team members to support our programs and initiatives:
3. Communications Intern x 1 (Lusaka)
The intern will assist in managing social media, media relations, content creation, and program support activities aimed at promoting Grassroot Soccer Zambia’s impact and engaging our audiences.
Responsibilities or duties
- Draft and organize engaging content to promote Grassroot Soccer Zambia’s work, including videos and media coverage on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
- Manage social media interactions by responding to followers’ questions.
- Contribute to social media analytics reporting, both quantitative and qualitative.
- Create and coordinate content for social media campaigns and observances.
- Monitor and research influencers, trending topics, and social media tools.
- Source content from GRSZ staff, SKILLZ Coaches, and SKILLZ Participants.
- Support social media planning, research, reporting, and coordination as assigned by supervisors.
- Write and edit photo captions, blogs, project descriptions (with guidance from the Programmes Lead), interviews, and copyediting tasks.
- Take, edit, and format photos, videos, and audio for social media and web.
- Create infographics, GIFs, animations, and graphics to enhance content.
- Assist in compiling and updating media contact lists.
- Prepare media reports on assigned subjects.
- Identify and research opportunities to share success stories from SKILLZ Participants and Coaches.
- Support media interview scheduling and coordination.
- Assist with scheduling and coordinating photo/video shoots with staff, coaches, participants, and the community.
- Collaborate with the programmes team to create and manage PowerPoint presentations.
- Accompany program staff in the field to collect content and support program activities.
- Assist in preparing for meetings and presentations.
- Provide general programmatic and Monitoring & Evaluation support as assigned.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Minimum Diploma in Communications or related field.
- Excellent command of English (speaking, reading, and writing).
- Strong interest in adolescent health and development.
- Knowledge of communication software packages.
- Proven social media skills and experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and a strong team player.
