Lumumba Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed individual for the position of Coordinator - Belting to join the versatile Process Maintenance team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the Superintendent – Process Maintenance, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance, inventory, and operational schedules for conveyor belt systems, rubber lining and tiling of tanks, launders and hoppers.
Your Duties and Responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:
- Assist the Process Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent to develop the Annual Processing Plan and Budget based on the Life of Mine Plan.
- Plan, cost, and manage belt splicing and rubber lining projects from start to finish, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Oversee the application of cold/hot bonded and ceramic rubber linings to protect against corrosion and abrasion. Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) standards, such as performing Shore A hardness tests and spark testing.
- Coordination of daily conveyor belts maintenance activities of the process plant and the supervision of contract belt splicing/rubber lining maintenance crews and service providers
- Maintain a formal management reporting system that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements and business improvement initiatives.
- Ensure belt splicing personnel participate in quality FLRA, TRA and critical task analysis with timely follow up to issues that have potential to negatively impact safety, health, environment, equipment, production, costs, and morale.
- Conduct quality incident investigations (injury, significant near-miss, environmental excess emission and/or deviation, significant unscheduled downtime and equipment damage) complete with detailed RCA and practical corrective actions
- Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
- Ensure the development and maintenance of up-to-date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.
- Maintenance and installation of conveyor belts, tanks, hoppers and launders rubber lining
- Providing technical guidance and advice to team members
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, including conveyor belts, rollers, and specialized vulcanizing materials.
- Ensure all belt and rubber-related activities meet safety regulations and company protocols, including managing risk assessments for site work.
- Monitor and report on performance data, repair costs, and project budgets using internal management systems.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Minimum diploma in industrial maintenance or mechanical engineering is highly desirable
- Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
- At least 2 years of experience as a Conveyor belt splicing supervisor role in a mining industry
- Strong understanding of conveyor systems, volcanizing, belt splicing, pulley systems, and rubber applications
- Familiarity with various belt splicing methods, including vulcanization and hot/cold splicing
- Proven experience in rubber lining ceramic tiling specifically with slurry tanks, hoppers and launders.
- High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of people in the mining industry.
- Good computer skills with the ability to use integrated management systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
- Experience with CMMS platforms (e.g., SAP, Maximo, Pronto) for scheduling and documentation
