Job Description

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit highly motivated and committed employees for the position of Dispatch Superintendent to join the versatile Mining Team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Senior Technical Advisor- Dispatch, you will be responsible for managing and monitoring of all software and systems configurations for better user experience and operational excellence of the Mining Fleet Management Systems.

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the software optimization of the fleet management system in advanced configurations.
    •    Ensure system is configured as required for optimal performance.
    •    Ensure the application is working as expected for best end user experience
    •    Improve the usability of the database tables and views
    •    Detect data generation and data management problems, propose and execute solutions.
    •    Keep abreast with industry trends in technology and incorporate the information into the system.
    •    Lead and assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of relevant mining and dispatch procedures, processes and technology to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the assets.
    •    Drive the development and implementation of new and best practices to improve productivities.
    •    Become actively involved in Barrick’s aims and objectives of engaging with the local community and strive to leave a positive impact on the longer-term outcomes for local people.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
    •    Minimum Degree in Mining Engineering, Computer science or Software engineering.
    •    Over 10 years extensive experience in mining operational technologies and fleet management systems such           as Hexagon Mining, Modular Mining Systems, Caterpillar MineStar and Wenco
    •    Must have extensive working experience in Linux environment and Postgre database
    •    Must have extensive knowledge with SQL database,
    •    Deep understanding of reporting platforms such as PowerBi and other MS reporting platforms
    •    Must be able to  impart mining operations technical knowledge to the local employees’.
    •    Proven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.
  • High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia.
    •    Experience in managing costs and budgeting and demonstrated ability of continuous improvement ideas
    •    Must be a member of the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
    •    Must have a current Zambian driver’s license
