ENVIRONMENTAL SOCIAL GOVERNANCE (ESG) MANAGER

Goldenlay Agri. Ltd is the largest producer, supplier, and distributor of table eggs across Zambia, and boasting a brand familiar to retailers and consumers alike. Goldenlay is hereby inviting applications from suitable qualified candidates to fill the position of ESG.

The position holder will oversee Environment, Health, Safety and Community engagement issues at five facilities which are sparsely situated across Luanshya and Mpongwe Districts of the Copperbelt Province to ensure compliance with EHS laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of an integrated management system based on ISO 45001 and ISO 14001,
  • Ensuring risk assessments are conducted, populate and update risk register,
  • Ensuring Pre- Job Hazard Assessments (PJHA) are undertaken prior to conducting of any works on site,
  • Development of EHS policies and procedures and implementing them,
  • Conducting periodic EHS inspections on site and implementation of correctional measures on non-compliances,
  • Accident investigation and preparation of accident reports and reporting all statutory reportable accidents to relevant governmental bodies,
  • Working in liaison with line government institutions for consultations and guidelines in respect with the EHS laws and regulations,
  • Conducting EHS trainings for all employees and arranging for specialized EHS trainings with TEVETA certified organizations where certificates are required,
  • Undertaking of Environmental Impact Assessments for new projects and ensuring their timely approval by ZEMA,
  • Management and safeguarding of the carbon sequestration area (carbon sink),
  • Conduct EHS monitoring for water, wastewater, and air quality,
  • Ensuring adequate waste disposal measures are implemented for both general and hazardous wastes in line with the waste management hierarchy,
  • Ensuring all operational licenses from regulatory bodies and local council are in place and are renewed on time,
  • Preparation of annual departmental budget and ensuring working within it,
  • Implementation of Bio-security measures.

Key skills

  • Computer literate and should be conversant with word, excel, power point, mind manager, outlook and teams,
  • People’s management,
  • Fast learner, able to adapt in a fast-paced environment,
  • Driving ability.

Experience and qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 certificate with credits or better in English, Mathematics and Science,
  • Holder of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences/Engineering, Natural Resources Management, or similar,
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position,
  • A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety will be an added advantage,
  • Certification with ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 will be an added advantage,
  • A clean and valid class B license is a must.
