Background
Zambia Sugar Plc. is an ABF Group sugar company and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia. Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.
The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position in the Commercial Department to be based in Ndola:
1. EXPORT SALES SPECIALIST x 1 – PERMANENT
This position reports to the Exports Sales Manager.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Achieve and grow sales volume and revenue targets in a specified regional market.
- Build and manage relationships with customers through a partnering approach that adds value to the Customer and Illovo.
- Execute ISSO in priority trade segments through adherence to Call schedules to deliver the profitable volume growth ambition.
- Generate leads, Identifying and developing market opportunities on a continues basis.
- Develop and manage regional customer database.
- Drive in-Country commercialization and customer-centricity.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Execution of sales objectives set by and agreed with the Export Sales Manager for each Regional Market assigned.
- Providing input on strategy formulation for respective Export markets as requested from time to time.
- Own customer relationships through conduction of effective sales calls, understanding of the Customer's business needs, effective customer communication and collaboration with Logistics and Finance to ensure delivery against commitments.
- Influence orders to meet sales targets and grow sales volumes, through effective customer reviews and application of sales call stories and profit conversations.
- Notify customers of pricing changes through preparation and submission of quotations in the order negotiation process.
- Gathering Market intelligence on a continue basis including but not limited to the World sugar prices (number 11& 5), sugar flows, production estimates from leading sugar producing countries and impact on prices, competitor activities.
- Generating Unique Consignment reference numbers and order tracking.
- Reconciling of Customer accounts on a regular basis.
- Manage Cross functional relationships at executional level (CSC/ Mill Lab/Warehouse).
- Promote and adhere to the business' procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Ant Bribery and Corruption (ABC)
- Other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience
- Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing / business administration / commerce.
- 3-5 years' experience in sales and marketing (Experience in International Trade will be an added advantage).
- Full Computer literacy.
- Commercial/financial acumen; product and industry knowledge, including commodity markets, trade protocols and duty structures between regions and countries; proactive and able to trade and negotiate independently at a senior level; cross-cultural Interpersonal and communication skills; ability to analyze, Interpret and evaluate information; able to work and make decisions under pressure with tight deadlines, while considering the broader impact of own actions.
- Clean and valid driving license.
- Suitably qualified applicants must submit certificates verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
