JOB DETAILS:
Abt Associates, a mission-driven, global leader in research and program implementation in the fields of health, social and environmental policy, and international development, seeks qualified candidates for the anticipated USAID Zambia District Governance Strengthening (DGS) program to help build up a local system of governance capable of responsive service delivery to drive USAID results and advance Zambian self-reliance. This system will maximize the impact of local partners, build the capabilities of service providers, enhance coordination across sectors, and improve targeted citizen oversight of government performance. All positions are contingent upon program award to Abt and will based in Lusaka. .
Job Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain sound financial management systems in line with USAID rules and regulations, accounting best practices and Abt policies and procedures.
• Lead the development, monitoring, and review of project budgets in line with national laws, donor regulations and corporate policies.
• Produce budget projections and reports for submission to USAID and Abt home office.
• Provide relevant and timely financial information for planning and decision-making purposes.
• Oversee operations and administration staff, ensuring functions are performed timely and accurately.
• Ensure implementation of and adherence of Abt Human Resources policies including compliance with Zambia labor law.
Job Skills:
• Candidates must possess the ability to independently plan and execute complex tasks while addressing daily management details;
• Ability to remain organized and focused on long-term deadlines and strategy;
• Willingness to travel within the country as needed;
• An outstanding professional reputation;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Written and spoken english;
• Experience with donor-funded programs preferred, including USAID-funded activities.
Job Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or relevant field;
• Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 8 years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development and forecasting on donor-funded projects.
• Experience developing and implementing finance and accounting policies, procedures and systems.
• Strong experience in Excel and QuickBooks.
• Direct supervisory experience
Job Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or relevant field;
• Master’s degree preferred.
Job Experience Requirements:
• At least 8 years of experience in financial analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, budget development and forecasting on donor-funded projects.
• Experience developing and implementing finance and accounting policies, procedures and systems.
