Job Overview

The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of all company and subcontracted truck movements for both local and cross-border operations. The role ensures optimal fleet utilization, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the timely delivery of goods. The Fleet Manager will also produce client tracking and operational performance reports to support business decisions and customer service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and supervise all local and cross-border truck movements.
  • Monitor fleet performance, driver schedules, and routing efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with transport and customs regulations across all regions of operation.
  • Manage driver performance, training, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Liaise with the customs and operations teams to provide accurate client delivery updates.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly client tracking and fleet performance reports.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance schedules, breakdown management, and documentation.
  • Control fuel usage, mileage records, and route cost efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to fleet operations and cost control.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or Degree in Transport Management, Logistics, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience managing local and regional fleet operations.
  • In-depth understanding of Zambian and regional cross-border transport regulations.
  • Proficient in fleet management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and performance tracking.
