Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Forecourt Technician to lead the implementation of our Pesapal Forecourt Management Solution (PFMS) in petrol stations. This role is central to ensuring the successful installation, configuration, and integration of PFMS solutions to meet customer needs and operational requirements.
In addition to PFMS implementation, you will be responsible for repairing equipment faults, conducting regular servicing, and developing effective preventative maintenance strategies to ensure optimal system performance.
Key Responsibilities
Implementation and Technical Operations:
- Install, configure, and commission PFMS at merchant sites.
- Prepare technical proposals for maintenance works.
- Conduct maintenance and repair works, ensuring merchant issues are addressed within set SLAs.
- Monitor maintenance activities to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
- Liaise with petrol station staff and subcontractors to ensure adherence to procedures and resolve technical issues effectively.
- Facilitate analytical downtime investigations and provide technical solutions to address identified gaps.
- Maintain and update an asset register of PFMS station equipment.
- Track equipment installations, transfers, and make recommendations for write-offs.
- Participate in inspection of maintenance works and projects to ensure quality standards are met.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with merchants and customers to support long-term partnerships.
- Support merchants through technical and administrative activities, ensuring seamless service delivery.
- Understand customer needs and concerns to ensure high satisfaction.
- Provide a high level of customer service at all touchpoints.
- Recommend improvements to service delivery processes to enhance merchant experience.
- Identify sales opportunities during service interactions, recommending related products or services and upselling where appropriate.
- Recommend potential products or services to management by collecting and analyzing customer information and needs.
Reporting
- Prepare detailed and timely implementation, handover, and service reports to inform management decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Must Have Job Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree or Diploma in engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a petrol station fuel maintenance engineer or technician
- Hands-on experience in petrol service station civil, electrical or mechanical works, both projects and maintenance.
- Strong technical, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare clear and accurate technical documentation and implementation reports.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with merchants, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of safety, security, regulatory, and compliance standards relevant to PFMS operations.
