Background information about the job or company (e.g., role context, company overview)

The successful candidate will be responsible for making payments, supporting treasury operations, maintaining banking relationships, and ensuring accurate cashbook and reconciliation processes.

Responsibilities or duties

1. Online Payments Management

  • Process online payments through various banking platforms.
  • Ensure timely settlement of suppliers, statutory bodies, and other financial obligations.
  • Monitor payment status and resolve failed or rejected transactions promptly.

2. Tax and System Processing

  • Process purchases in the tax system (both local and import transactions).
  • Process customer payments, sales orders, and sales adjustments.
  • Monitor and track overdue accounts and follow up where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and tax requirements.

3. Bank Relationship Management

  • Follow up on banking-related matters such as failed or delayed payments, unknown or irregular bank charges, and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain effective communication with bank relationship managers.
  • Ensure smooth operation of banking facilities and services.

4. Cashbook and Bank Reconciliations

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cashbooks.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations on a timely basis.
  • Investigate and clear reconciling items promptly.
  • Ensure alignment between bank statements and accounting records.

5. Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Part-qualified professional certification such as the following will be added advantage:
    • ACCA (Applied Skills Level or above)
    • CIMA (Operational Level or above)
    • CA Zambia (Licentiate)
    • Technician-level qualifications will be considered.
  • Membership with a recognised professional body will be an added advantage.

Experience needed

  • Minimum of 2–4 years’ relevant experience in treasury, accounting, or finance operations.
  • Practical experience in online banking transactions and reconciliation processes.

  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Sound understanding of banking procedures and treasury controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

  • High integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
