Key Responsibilities
1. Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce adherence to all company HSE policies, procedures, and statutory obligations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and safety patrols to identify unsafe conditions, practices, or hazards.
- Report and document incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Verify the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) across all service lines.
- Ensure all staff receive HSE induction and ongoing refresher training.
2. Risk Management
- Assist in conducting Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA) for all operational areas.
- Support Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development and ensure work is executed according to safe operating procedures.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the implementation of preventive measures.
- Maintain records of risk assessments, permits, and safety checklists.
3. Environmental Management
- Support implementation of environmental management initiatives including waste segregation, recycling, and energy conservation.
- Monitor and report environmental impacts such as waste disposal, chemical handling, and water usage.
- Ensure compliance with environmental policies and relevant local regulations.
- Promote sustainable operational practices in line with Maisha’s environmental goals.
4. Training and Awareness
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety awareness sessions with site teams.
- Promote safety culture through continuous engagement, observation, and mentoring of staff.
- Assist the HSE Supervisor in developing and delivering HSE training programs.
- Ensure all staff understand emergency procedures and participate in drills.
5. Emergency Preparedness
- Conduct emergency response drills including fire, evacuation, and first aid simulations.
- Inspect fire extinguishers, alarms, and first aid kits regularly and ensure readiness.
- Assist in updating emergency contact lists and site response plans.
6. Monitoring and Reporting
- Maintain HSE registers including incidents, inspections, PPE issuance, and training logs.
- Prepare and submit weekly site HSE reports to the HSE Supervisor.
- Track compliance levels and raise non-conformance reports when necessary.
- Support audit readiness through documentation and evidence collection.
Qualifications
- Full G12 Certificate
- Diploma in Health & Safety/Public Health or Equivalent
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience on working in food production.

- Integrity and commitment to promoting a safety culture.
