Job Summary
We are seeking a confident, customer-focused Liquor Store Clerk to join our retail team. You’ll play a key role in assisting customers, managing stock, processing sales, and ensuring a clean, organized store environment—all while upholding legal compliance with alcohol sales regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers with product selection, including wine, spirits, and beer.
Provide product knowledge and make recommendations based on customer preferences.
Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system for purchases, returns, and exchanges.
Verify customer age for legal alcohol sales as required by Zambian law.
Restock shelves, maintain clean and appealing displays, and manage inventory.
Receive and unpack deliveries; check for accuracy and product quality.
Monitor stock levels and report low inventory to management.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
Handle customer questions, feedback, or complaints professionally.
Follow all store policies, including safety, security, and loss prevention.
Assist with store opening, closing, and general daily operations.
Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance customer experience and sales.
Requirements
Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.
At least 1 year of experience in retail, hospitality, or a customer-facing role preferred.
Must be 18 years or older (in accordance with alcohol sales laws).
Basic math and cash-handling skills.
Physically able to stand for extended periods and lift moderate-weight items.
Reliable, honest, and professional.
Preferred Qualities
Familiarity with local and international liquor brands.
Fluent in English; ability to communicate in Nyanja, Bemba, or other Zambian languages is a plus.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Confident, polite, and customer-oriented.
Tech-savvy: comfortable using POS systems or mobile apps.
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
