The Zambian Open University (ZAOU) is an institution of high standing both locally and internationally, whose vision is “to be an internationally recognized University providing quality education through full-time, Open and distance, and blended learning’’. The University is now looking for a self-motivated, suitably qualified individual to fill up the position of Marketing Manager.
Position: Marketing Manager
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Purpose of the Role
The Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing marketing, publicity, student recruitment, and business development strategies aimed at increasing student enrollment and strengthening ZAOU’s institutional brand locally, regionally, and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing and student recruitment strategies targeting local and international markets.
- Promote ZAOU programs through digital marketing, social media, print, and broadcast media.
- Lead publicity and media relations, including press releases, interviews, and institutional communications.
- Coordinate student recruitment initiatives such as open days, outreach programs, and education fairs.
- Facilitate international student recruitment, including liaison with embassies and immigration authorities.
- Identify and develop business development opportunities, partnerships, and revenue-generating programs.
- Build and manage partnerships with recruitment agents, schools, corporates, NGOs, and government institutions.
- Conduct market research to inform marketing strategies and enrollment growth initiatives.
- Manage marketing budgets and ensure effective use of resources.
- Strengthen and maintain ZAOU’s brand identity and visibility.
- Monitor performance, prepare reports, and present marketing outcomes to senior management.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 12 Certificate with 5 ‘O’ levels with Credit or better, including English and Mathematics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or a related field.
- Professional qualification in Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
- Membership in a recognized professional marketing body.
- At least five (5) years’ experience leading a marketing team.
- Proven experience in student recruitment, brand management, and business development is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills.
- Age limit: Not more than 45 years.
