Job description:
Purpose

Conducting laboratory flotation test work, conducting circuit mineralogy investigation / analysis targeting use of process mineralogy for performance improvement (plant recovery and concentrate quality), To account for the ore treated and all products accurately and in an auditable manner in compliancy with Kansanshi Mining metal accounting procedures.

Key Responsibilities
The holder of this position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
• Develop an in depth understanding of the various Metallurgical Processes.
• Evaluate recovery and concentrate quality improvement opportunities through Mineralogy data to generate focused scope for laboratory flotation and leach test work.
• Conducting plant surveys and interpreting results.
• Developing mass balance assisting in the evaluation of test/plant data.
• Use of both optical and scanning electron microscopy (MINSCAN) data to conduct mineralogical investigations.
• Supervise the sample preparation team and ensure sample preparation is done according to KMP standards achieving good TAT.
• Routine process mineralogy and experience using power BI for data manipulation will be beneficial
• Assist operation teams through the use of technical data for plant diagnostics that include identification of mineralogical and other technical reasons for significant fluctuations in recovery and grade.
• Collaborate with other teams on projects relevant to plant improvement.
• Should be able to conduct effectively float test works and leach test works.
• Supervision of students and Interns.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures.
• Liaise and communicate effectively verbally and in writing with other sections and departments to ensure timely availability of relevant information to appropriate personnel for efficient plant performance.
• Ensure procedures are complied with for all laboratory functions.
• Any other duties as required.

Qualifications
• Hold a degree or diploma in Metallurgy or relevant discipline or qualification acceptable to become a member of the engineering institute of Zambia as per Act No.27 of 1992.

Experience
• A minimum of 1-year relevant experience in a plant environment is desired
• Strong analytical, data analyses and cognitive skills. Problem solving expertise would be an advantage
• Experience conducting laboratory flotation test work and working in an operational environment would be an advantage
• Experience in process mineralogy will be advantages for this position.
• Experience in the use of Metallurgical Accounting data bases and advantage.
• Good computer skills with the ability to use SCADA systems, word processing, presentation and spreadsheet applications.
• Strong analytical skills and experience using Pi, PowerBI and other relevant tools will be advantageous.
• Proven supervisory experience in a large copper mining operation will be advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
