Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Mid-Wife to join the versatile Occupational Health and Safety department Team.
Reporting to Medical Superintendent, you will be responsible to ensure the optimal health of all women of reproductive age group on site including LMC employees, contractors, and their dependents, including under-five child health services.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinate and conduct Antenatal Services, Post-natal services, Family Planning Services, New-born and Child health services.
- Supervise and conduct simple deliveries; Provide nursing care for pre-mature babies.
- Ensure sufficient medical and surgical supplies in the delivery rooms.
- Maintain accurate records of all services rendered in the maternal, new-born and child-health clinic.
- Maintain records and statistics required by statutory and domestic regulations.
- Be able to maintain high levels of cleanliness/sterility in the Labour ward and hence reduce chances of cross-infection.
- Be actively involved in the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
- Participate in general nursing and clinical work.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade 12 school Certificates
- Diploma in Registered Nursing
- Advanced Diploma in Midwifery
- 5 years’ work experience as a registered/Mid-wife nurse.
- A degree in Nursing is an added advantage.
- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Good management and communication skills
- Team player
- Good observation and analytical skills
