SAfAIDS is a regional non-partisan and non-profit civil society organization; whose Strategy Towards Agenda 2030 (2021-2025) commits to a Vision of an Africa where all people enjoy universal sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), inclusion and viable livelihoods; free from disease or poverty, and contributing to their human and social development. We are looking for two quality conscious, results focused and efficient delivery on multiple assignments individuals with a high sense of responsibility, strong networking, systematic organising, planning and advanced computer applications skilled Programme Officers for Choma and Lusaka. The Programme Officers (POs) are responsible for spearheading and coordinating effective and efficient programming in conjunction with key stakeholders, including development partners, Government departments implementing partners and technical and strategic partners within consortia or out of consortia. She/He/They designs, develop, implement and monitor day to day programmatic interventions aligned to specific goals and objectives all the while tracking targets against achieved outcomes. In addition, they develop work-plans and related budgets for specific programmes and programme activities, and work with the MERRL team to ensure that MERRL plans with clear targets and outputs are in place and being reported against. On a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, they produce high quality programme reports in a timely manner including drafting donor narrative reports, and ensure that financial and MERRL reports are prepared and reviewed in a timely manner, and are in line with contractual conditions, deadlines, deliverables, budgets, MERRL plans and stipulations, prior to submission to their supervisor. They are responsible for activity budget development and monitoring; and work closely with the Zambia Finance and Administration Officer (FAO) to ensure accurate expenditure reporting. In addition, they manage programme communications, documentation and publicity to promote the programme including liaising with partners, beneficiaries and other stakeholders to ensure relationships are managed well and communication about the programme is effective. The POs play a key role in supporting implementing partners to deliver on agreed outputs, evaluating their performance and in making recommendations for strengthening partner capacity or providing input when decisions are made to terminate partnerships. She/He/They supervise the work of Programme Assistants (PAs), Interns and Graduate Trainees (GT Progs) as required. They ensure full compliance to all organizational policies and SOPs, and that all programming and consultancy/service provider files are up to date and complete, on a monthly basis.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience:

  • Minimum qualification is a relevant University degree in Public Health, Health Education, Demography, Social Sciences, Development Studies or any other relevant degree.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years SRH, HIV and GBV programming experience in an NGO working with schools, health facilities, community-based volunteers as well as communities and young people.
  • Traceable experience in project conceptualization, design and implementation including training and facilitation.
  • Advanced computer literacy skills including Monitoring, Evaluation and Research knowledge.
  • Multi-tasking, crisis management and risk reduction.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills including report writing and article production.
  • Preferred candidates should be domiciled either in Choma or Lusaka district.
