Background information about the job or company
The position of Project Accountant - Manganese Aggregation is a temporary role for 6 months in the Commercial Directorate. The location is in Mansa
Job Purpose:
To provide financial management, reporting, and control support for manganese operations, ensuring effective accounting for field purchases, project expenditures, and revenues in accordance with ZCCM-IH’s financial policies and government regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate accounting records for all manganese-related transactions and field expenditures.
- Handle cash payments for manganese purchase transactions both in the field and at office locations.
- Reconcile cash advances and manganese purchase reports from field officers.
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial performance analyses for the manganese aggregation project.
- Coordinate timely payments to suppliers, smelters/off-takers, and logistics providers.
- Support audit preparation and compliance with internal controls specific to manganese inventory and sales.
- Ensure proper valuation and accounting of manganese ore inventories.
- Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting to management on the project's performance.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, and regulatory bodies on manganese-related financial matters.
- Assist in developing financial procedures for the manganese marketing and trading operations.
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ZICA).
- At least 4 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in mining, trading, or project environments.
- Strong understanding of financial controls and reconciliation processes.
Key Competencies:
- High integrity and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to work with dispersed field teams.
- Familiarity with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Pastel, SAP).
- Understanding of commodity accounting and valuation principles, preferably in base metals or mining.
