We are seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced individual for the position of Risk and Compliance Officer. This role is critical to the effective implementation and monitoring of our risk management and compliance frameworks, ensuring adherence to internal policies, legal obligations, and external regulatory requirements.

Purpose of the Role

The Risk and Compliance Officer will play a key role in supporting a culture of integrity, regulatory compliance, and enterprise-wide risk awareness. The position is responsible for advising management on compliance matters, monitoring regulatory changes, and contributing to the development and enforcement of internal controls that mitigate financial, operational, and reputational risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor organizational compliance with applicable local laws, regulations, and internal policies, including but not limited to requirements set by the Bank of Zambia (BoZ), Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), PACRA, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and internal audits to identify and evaluate risk exposures.
  • Maintain and update risk and compliance registers in accordance with established procedures.
  • Advise management through comprehensive compliance and risk reports.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
    Coordinate and deliver employee training on compliance, ethics, and risk awareness.
  • Investigate potential breaches of policy and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit reports to regulatory authorities as required.
    Monitor changes in relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of sensitive company information.

Qualifications, Experience and Competencies

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience in a compliance or risk management role, preferably within a regulated industry such as financial services, insurance, or fintech.
  • In-depth knowledge of Zambian regulatory frameworks and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience in conducting compliance audits and risk assessments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legal and policy documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
