Primary Purpose of the Role:
The School Counsellor will provide emotional, social, and psychological support to students, helping them to thrive academically and personally. The role involves offering counselling services, promoting student wellbeing, and supporting the development of a safe and inclusive school culture. Qualifications and Requirements:
- A degree or qualification in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and adolescents.
- A compassionate, approachable manner and excellent listening skills.
- Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, and student wellbeing.
Key Skills and Attributes:
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Provide one-to-one and group counselling to support students’ emotional, social, and behavioural well-being.
- Deliver preventative programmes and wellbeing workshops, promoting resilience, safeguarding, and positive relationships.
- Collaborate with staff and parents to identify needs, offer guidance, and support student development.
- Maintain referral links with external professionals and manage follow-up for specialist interventions.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, uphold confidentiality, and comply with safeguarding and counselling standards.
Advantage:
Experience in outdoor education and Leadership training would be a distinct advantage
