Purpose
Assist the Production Superintendent in the monitoring, operation and control of shift operations in the Materials Handling Plant.
Key Responsibilities
- This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.
- Develop operating plans in conjunction with others to ensure that material deliveries, feed blending, feed reclaiming and stockpiles are managed according to the needs of the Isasmelt Furnace, Matte-Settling Electric Furnace and the Peirce-Smith Converters
- Coordinate concentrate deliveries with the concentrate sources (Kansanshi, Trident mines and other external sources)
- Monitor plant operations and ensure that the defined operating plans are followed
- Monitor stockpiles of “in-process” materials such as dusts and reverts, plus the operation of plant and equipment items that are used to handle these streams
- Report on plant performance to the Superintendent and others
- Assist in identifying operational problems and assist in solving them
- Ensure that the feed blend to the Isasmelt furnace is correctly maintained within specified parameters
- Assist in the cold and hot commissioning of the Materials Handling Plant
- Other duties as directed by the Superintendent
Qualifications
- Degree Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or Equivalent
- All Academic Qualification’s Must Be Certified By ZAQA
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in mineral processing, mining, quarrying or a similar field.
BEHAVIOURAL TRAITS
- Good at maintaining operating standards, workforce discipline and teamwork.
- Good communication skills, particularly in reporting
- Systematic monitoring and assessment skills
- Problem solving
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Should have knowledge on the:
- Equipment ( Larox filters, Reclaimers, crushers etc …) in the area of supervision, its purpose and how it operates
- Process Flow Sheet in the area of supervision
- The way in which the process is controlled in the area of supervision.
- Interface between the Materials Handling Plant and all other areas of the Smelter
