We are seeking a Student Support Lead to help students thrive both in their studies and in their personal lives. The role involves looking into the welfare of students, identifying needs, and providing the right support alongside their academic journey.
It also includes contributing to teaching, student engagement activities, and ensuring the college meets standards for student care, health awareness, safeguarding, and gender equality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Student Welfare Committee, ensuring effective case review, decision-making, and follow-up on student needs.
- Oversee daily meals provision and manage kitchen staff.
- Assess student needs for hardship assistance and coordinate appropriate support.
- Work with the academic team to identify and support students facing academic challenges.
- Assist in the coordination and delivery of mentorship programmes.
- Teach at least one course per term.
- Organize student seminars and orientation at the start of each term.
- Oversee student health matters, including first aid and health awareness campaigns.
- Provide one-to-one and group counselling for personal, academic, or spiritual concerns.
- Share positive student and college stories with the wider community and stakeholders.
Essential Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Social Sciences or a related field with Education.
- Experience in student support, pastoral care, teaching, or related roles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Understanding of safeguarding, gender awareness, and student health needs.
- Organisational skills to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters.
Desirable
- Experience in vocational or further education settings.
- Counselling or mentorship training.
- Familiarity with TEVETA requirements.
