Provide subject matter expert on mine closure plan by leveraging internal and external stakeholder support in identification of opportunities to reduce risks associated with mine closure. Involvement in business improvement and governance initiatives.

- Superintend the integration of the closure and life of asset planning from a people, process and technology perspective.
- Develop scopes for closure plans, studies and projects consisting of environmental investigations and/or analytical work interpretation for practical implementation.
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams to achieve on closure objectives. Focus on positive legacy and closure risk reduction.
- Coordinate costing updates for Asset Retirement Obligations and manage processes of data capture and maintenance of inventory of structures.
- Utilize your strong technical skill base to develop closure strategies for complex landforms, giving full consideration to landscape scale closure design and the relationship with mineral waste and surface water management.
- Work with internal stakeholders to support the identification of progressive rehabilitation opportunities across the life of mine.
- Oversee rehabilitation trials that inform dump cover designs for the waste rock dumps and tailings storage facility to reduce environmental risks in practicable manner.
- Monitor and manage rehabilitated areas until vegetation is self-sustaining and reclamation activities achieved.
- Track the cost of performing mine rehabilitation and update environmental liabilities through site surveys and assessments.
- Perform any other duties assigned to by supervisor.
- Leadership skills.
- GIS, Autocad and other modelling software’s. .
- Environmental management skills.
- Technically competent.
- Able to develop and encourage team performance.
- Good interpersonal skills and able to create a good network with people within the Mine and among external stakeholders.
- Must be environmentally and safety conscious.
- Must pay attention to detail.
- Sober minded, structured in performing duties, long term foresight, ability to adjust to changing environments and results oriented.
- At least 5 years’ experience in mining industry.
- Full grade twelve (G12) certificate.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Quantity Survey, Engineering or related field.
- A post graduate qualification in an environmental related technical field will be an added advantage.
