Job description:

The position of supervisor materials load shifting, is to organize resources; to maximise equipment availability and manpower through proper planning and controlling of artisans, and operators to ensure engineering activities proceed in the professional manner, supporting maintenance personnel maintaining operational integrity of the plant & equipment in order to achieve production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Have the ability to calculate, draft, oversee, verify and approve load-shifting plans.
  • Have the ability to read, understand and explain crane load-charts, prior to any lifting plans been executed.
  • Provide clear direction, control and supervise the riggers and crane operators, to ensure safe and a profitable work environment for all.
  • Be a self-starter and able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to work place safety and the safety of your subordinates.
  • Be accurate, methodical, and practical when giving guidance to artisans and equipment operators.
  • Ensure subordinates follow laid down policies and procedures as out lined by management.
  • Enforce compliance to work-order attachments and documents such as JSA’s, work procedures, SWI’s, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental management systems, policies and procedures along with, ensuring that all risks have been identified, managed and a safe working environment is maintained.
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are maintained; by enforcing cleaning up before, during and after every task and not leaving any hazards within the work place.
  • Ensure that the subordinates receive all necessary training, being offered by companies training team and beyond.
  • Have effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good leadership, motivational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong cognitive and analytical skills for identifying maintenance shortfalls, equipment bottlenecks and implementing corrective and preventative action plans.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyse and understand equipment requirements.
  • Strong understanding of technical, production and maintenance strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants.
  • Able to analyse data and provide clear and accurate operational maintenance performance reports in both an upward and downward direction.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to reading mechanical, hydraulic and piping drawings.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of Zambian craft certificate or an equivalent. Higher education attainment will be advantageous.
  • Construction and maintenance supervision background, with preference given to direct mining experience are essential.
  • Lifting machinery inspector or equivalent certification will be advantageous.
  • Mobile crane operator certificate is essential.
  • National grade 12 certificate is compulsory.
  • Computer literate in the Micro-Soft suite of packages.
  • A valid Zambian driving license (category BE) is essential.
  • A valid category CE & TE Zambian driving licence will be advantageous.
  • EIZ membership essential.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance operations in heavy industry, overall concentrator plants.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership / supervisory experience.
  • Leadership or supervisory training courses will be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of PRONTO or other enterprise systems and maintenance management systems.
  • Proven knowledge and experience on heavy mining units; overhead cranes; mobile cranes and rigging/lifting equipment.
