About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Security Systems Technician to join our growing team. This role is essential in supporting our mission to provide reliable and innovative security solutions to clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of security and surveillance systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and configure a wide range of security systems including CCTV units, NVRs/DVRs, access control systems, and alarm systems.
- Interpret and work from security system designs, electrical layouts, and building plans to ensure accurate installations.
- Mount and connect security components such as control panels, sensors, window and door contacts, and surveillance cameras.
- Conduct wiring using electrical and telecommunications cables including Cat6, coaxial, and alarm cables.
- Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure functionality post-installation.
- Carry out regular preventive maintenance and diagnostic checks on all installed systems.
- Use mobile applications and PC-based software for system configuration and device programming.
- Generate accurate daily job reports and complete client handover documentation after each assignment.
- Coordinate installation work with the control room, supervisors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Certificate in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Networking, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 2 years’ hands-on experience in a similar role within the security systems or electronic installation field.
- Practical knowledge and experience working with security products from IDS, Honeywell, Hikvision, Dahua, Cathexis, Ajax, and ZKTeco.
- Proficiency in interpreting wiring diagrams, technical layouts, and product manuals.
- Familiarity with basic IP networking principles including IP addressing, port forwarding, and router configuration.
- Understanding of UPS systems and backup power solutions for security equipment.
- Experience operating hand and power tools, ladders, and using safety gear while working in varied environments.
Key Competencies and Skills
- Strong technical and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow structured installation protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet tight deadlines.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or on-call as required.
- Valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
- Traceable references required.
