JOB ADVERT – TAXATION MANAGER
Aller Aqua Zambia Limited invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Taxation Manager. The role reports to the Managing Director and will be based at the Aller Aqua Zambia Lusaka office with occasional visits to the feed mill in Siavonga.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Taxation Manager is responsible for overseeing all corporate, statutory, and regulatory tax matters for the business, ensuring full compliance with Zambian tax legislation, managing ZRA engagements, and providing strategic tax advisory support within a fish feed manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage timely preparation, review, documentation and submission of all tax returns to ZRA. Reconciles tax general ledger accounts and prepares tax accounting journal entries.
- Preparation of weekly/annual/ journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Formulate tax strategies to maximize the company's tax benefit plan and provide professional tax advice for senior management's business strategies and investment decisions.
- Manage and oversee all corporate taxation matters, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE and related statutory deductions, Customs and excise-related tax matters (where applicable).
- Plan and supervise the company's customs declaration affairs, reduce the total cost of the company's export customs declaration of goods, and be responsible for tax refunds.
- Identify key controls and efficiency opportunities and helps prepare written correspondence and other documents for submission to the statutory authorities.
- Provide tax advisory support to management on transactions, contracts, and business decisions.
- Identify tax risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Management annual inspections and other tax related matters.
- Responsible for reviewing all tax information and documents submitted externally.
- Support external and internal audits with respect to tax matters.
- Research various tax issues and provide tax consultation for company business operations.
- Provide business training and guidance to subordinates, learn new tax systems and terms, and continuously improve the business capabilities of department employees
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate (GCE)
- Bachelor’s degree plus a full professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, or ZICA etc.) or studying towards that.
- Minimum 5+ years of tax/accounting experience.
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
- Work with Zambian tax laws (Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, WHT, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Unquestionable integrity.
- Must uphold the company and professional code of ethics
- Analytical skills and working with volumes of data.
- Knowledge international financial reporting standards (IFRS).
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Zambian laws and regulations (e.g. Companies’ Act, Tax laws etc).
- Good command of the English language (speaking and writing).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI
- Strong ability to identify tax issues and resolve them effectively, including dealing with credibility audits.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting packages
- Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants.
- Results must be certified by ZAQA
