The role focuses on strategic, operational, and technical leadership of fleet maintenance across workshops based in the DRC, Zambia and South Africa.
Key responsibilities include:
- Strategy & Planning: Develop, implement, and manage fleet maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals. Oversee budgets (Opex & Capex) and ensure cost control.
- Fleet Management: Oversee preventative maintenance and running repairs to minimize downtime and develop in-house fleet maintenance capabilities in line with OEM standards.
- Reports: Ensure daily, weekly and monthly reports are compiled and sent out for operational and finance management controls.
- Operations & Compliance: Standardize practices, ensure legal and HSEC compliance, coordinate safety programs, conduct inspections, and support accident investigations.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and manage internal and external relationships to support service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Performance Management: Lead the department, drive productivity and efficiency, eliminate waste, manage change initiatives, and ensure continuous improvement.
- People Development: Promote teamwork, manage performance, implement development plans, and coach team members to ensure skills growth and knowledge transfer.
Qualifications and experience:
- Certified Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Class 1)
- Diploma in Automotive Engineering
- 10+ years in fleet management / road transportation industry
- MS Office
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as well as Motor Trade Act
