The Management Board of Northern Technical College (NORTEC), operating under the Ministry of Technology and Science of the Republic of Zambia, is seeking a highly qualified, mature, and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Training Manager. NORTEC is a reputable public institution located in Ndola, committed to providing quality technical and vocational education aligned with industry needs.

Job Purpose

The Training Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the College’s training operations. This includes advising the Principal and the Management Board on matters of strategic importance, ensuring the delivery of market-relevant training programmes, and implementing directives aimed at the continued development and growth of the College.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, market, and implement both short- and long-term training programmes aligned with labour market demands.
  • Manage and supervise academic departments, providing leadership to Heads of Department and other academic staff.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, donors, Non-Governmental Organisations, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Committees, and other sponsors of students.
  • Drive technological innovation and human capital development within the institution.
  • Coordinate with TEVETA and other stakeholders on syllabus development, instructional standards, and assessment systems.
  • Lead the College’s marketing and public relations initiatives to enhance visibility and stakeholder engagement.
  • Oversee continuous student assessment systems and coordinate examinations and certification processes.
  • Uphold and enhance the quality of training systems and instructional standards.
  • Ensure institutional accreditation with national and international bodies.
  • Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or the Board from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related industrial discipline.
  • Professional Qualification: Technical Teacher’s Diploma with a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Additional Advantage: Masters Degree in a related discipline, will be an added advantage.
  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in a senior management role within an academic or training institution.
