We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and skilled full time Workshop Foreman; you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our workshop. You will lead and mentor a team of various technicians, while maintaining excellent customer relationships. Your leadership will help us maintain our high standards and contribute to our continued success.
Tasks will involve but not be limited to the following:
- Supervise and lead a team of technicians in a heavy vehicle workshop
- Ensure efficient and timely completion of repairs, maintenance, and service work
- Manage workshop safety, ensuring compliance with all workplace health and safety regulations.
- Positively enable and motivate our workshop mechanics and apprentices who are reporting to you, to be the best that they can be whilst having safety at the forefront of everything they do
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues
- Coordinate with the parts department to ensure the availability of necessary components
- Monitor and maintain workshop equipment and make sure tools are available
- Effective and efficient resource and labour allocations for timely service to our customers
- Provide technical guidance and support to technicians when needed
- Ensure employees and contractors comply with all responsibilities and that a safety-first culture is a consistent behaviour within the workshop and company at large
- Create a positive workplace environment
- Quality control and be able to work with management to achieve business KPIs and targets
- Honesty, neat tidy appearance & a strong work ethic are highly regarded & will form part of the selection process
- Management of Workshop Work Orders – Cost control and actively looking to improve processes and efficiencies
To be successful in this role you will have:
- 5-7 years’ experience in the maintenance of heavy haulage and earthmoving equipment
- Excellent time management with the ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – a high level of emphasis on keeping all stakeholders informed of work progress
- Similar supervisory experience with strong leadership skills and the ability to get the team to work cohesively
- Strong technical knowledge and understanding of automotive systems and repairs.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities and must be self-motivated, strong initiative and an ability to work autonomously
- We need someone who can hit the ground running and ensure that our workshop continues to run at maximum efficiency.
