About the Role
We are seeking a passionate professional with a background in social behavior change, community engagement, or human-centered program design to join our team as Farmer Retention and Behavior Change Coordinator in Kabwe. In this role, you will work to deeply understand the farmer experience across the program lifecycle and design targeted strategies that drive continued participation and satisfaction.
Your primary focus will be on understanding why farmers disengage and implementing client-centered, behavior-informed interventions that improve retention and long-term impact. While data analysis is part of the role, we’re particularly interested in candidates who can combine insights with a strong understanding of what drives human behavior and decision-making in rural or low-income contexts.
Responsibilities
Farmer Engagement & Behavior Insights (Primary)
- Capture detailed farmer journeys from registration to planting, using field visits, interviews, and community feedback to understand motivations and drop-out drivers.
- Conduct qualitative research (surveys, focus groups, interviews) to uncover the behavioral, social, and environmental factors influencing farmer decisions.
- Work closely with farmer-facing teams to understand how program design and delivery affect client satisfaction and retention.
- Develop profiles and behavior patterns of different farmer types to guide program improvements
Strategy & Program Design
- Design, test, and iterate behavioral interventions that improve farmer retention, satisfaction, and engagement.
- Develop seasonal and long-term retention strategies using a human-centered, data-informed approach.
- Collaborate with field staff and training teams to embed behavior change strategies into farmer touchpoints.
Data Tracking, Reporting & Analysis (Secondary)
- Work with the MEL/data teams to analyze farmer retention trends and support in building feedback systems.
- Monitor key performance indicators related to retention, farmer satisfaction, and the success of behavior change strategies.
- Provide regular reports to field and program teams to drive learning and continuous improvement.
Career Growth and Development
We have a strong culture of constant learning and we invest in developing our people. You’ll have weekly check-ins with your manager, access to mentorship and training programs, and regular feedback on your performance. We hold career reviews every six months, and set aside time to discuss your aspirations and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to shape a growing organization and build a rewarding long-term career.
Qualifications
Across all roles, these are the general qualifications we look for. For this role specifically, you will have:
- Degree in social science, development studies, behavioral science, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in community development, client behavior change, human-centered design, or rural outreach programs.
- Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative and participatory research—especially with rural or low-income communities.
- Ability to translate research findings into practical strategies and program improvements.
- Comfort using basic data tools (Excel or Sheets) to support insights.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and storytelling skills—able to translate farmer experiences into action.
