Role Overview

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant to support our UK team by delivering accurate bookkeeping and assisting with management and year-end accounts preparation. Training will be provided on UK systems and processes where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain bookkeeping records for UK clients
  • Process invoices, expenses, and bank transactions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain VAT and payroll control accounts
  • Prepare journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation)
  • Assist with management accounts and year-end statutory accounts
  • Prepare working papers and supporting schedules
  • Support VAT returns and basic corporation tax workings
  • Process weekly and monthly payroll
  • Maintain accurate client files and meet agreed deadlines

Candidate Requirements

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years’ accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Experience in an accounting practice or professional environment
  • Strong double-entry bookkeeping knowledge
  • Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, or similar software
  • Good Excel skills
  • High attention to detail and strong communication skills

Desirable:

  • Accounting/Finance qualification (or studying AAT, ZICA, ACCA)
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
