JOB TITLE – ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT
Location: Lusaka
We are seeking to hire a detail-oriented, proactive, and reliable Assistant Accountant to support the finance department with day-to-day accounting operations. The successful candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and maintaining accurate financial records and reports.
- Process invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries accurately and on time.
- Perform bank, supplier, and customer account reconciliations.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reconciliations.
- Assist with inventory and stock reconciliations relevant to distribution operations.
- Support budget preparation, expense tracking, and cash flow management.
- Maintain proper documentation, filing, and record-keeping of accounting transactions.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Provide general accounting and administrative support to the finance team as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Grade 12 Certificate; Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in an accounting or finance role (experience in a distribution or trading company is an added advantage).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
- Must be a registered member of ZICA.
