Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Assistant Construction Manager – LEP (Fixed Term Contract) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Construction Manager – LEP, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the TSF/WSF construction process, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Oversee daily operations on the construction site, coordinating between various trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth progression of work.
• Assist the Construction Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating construction activities for TSF and WSF projects.
• Supervise and mentor site personnel, including engineers, contractors, and laborers, promoting a collaborative and efficient work environment.
• Ensure that all work is performed to the required specifications and quality standards through regular inspections and audits.
• Promote a strong safety culture on-site by enforcing safety practices, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Facilitate effective communication among stakeholders, including project managers, surveyors, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure alignment and resolve any issues that arise.
• Assist in tracking project budgets, expenditures, and forecasts while identifying potential cost-saving measures.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, reports, and any changes to project scope or schedule.
• Proactively identify construction-related challenges and work to develop and implement effective solutions.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
• Minimum of a Degree in Construction Management.
• Civil Engineering or related field
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• A minimum of 8 years construction management experience in the mining industry and/or similar projects as a construction superintendent or manager, particularly TS and WSF construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, and budgeting.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
