Job Summary

The Business Development Officer will drive business growth by identifying new market opportunities, expanding sales, strengthening customer and community relationships, and sourcing affordable raw materials (maize grain) to support efficient production. The role requires strong knowledge of Solwezi and the wider North-Western terrain, local supply networks, and rural trading practices.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Market Development

  • Identify and develop new markets for maize meal, maize bran, samp, and milling services within Solwezi and surrounding areas
  • Conduct market research considering local terrain, transport routes, and customer behavior
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow sales volume and market share

Sales & Customer Relations

  • Promote and sell company products to retailers, wholesalers, institutions, and individual customers
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, traders, transporters, and community clients
  • Negotiate sales agreements in line with company policies
  • Address customer inquiries and resolve issues professionally

Raw Material Sourcing

  • Source cost-effective and quality maize grain from farmers, aggregators, and local suppliers
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships to ensure consistent raw material supply
  • Negotiate purchase prices to support affordable production of maize meal, samp, and maize bran
  • Monitor seasonal availability and advise management on procurement opportunities

Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Establish partnerships with farmer groups, cooperatives, and community stakeholders
  • Promote milling services within rural and peri-urban communities
  • Support initiatives that enhance raw material supply and community participation

Marketing & Promotion

  • Participate in marketing and promotional activities across the North-Western region
  • Represent the company at agricultural shows, community meetings, and trade events
  • Support brand awareness and product visibility in local markets

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare regular sales, sourcing, and business development reports for the General Manager
  • Monitor performance against set targets
  • Maintain accurate customer, supplier, sales, and route records

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification
  • Competent driver with a valid C1 Driver’s Licence
  • Minimum of 1 year driving experience
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Solwezi and the North-Western terrain
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the province
  • Age requirement: 20–30 years only
