Job Description
Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Construction Superintendent – LEP (Fixed Term Contract) to join the Lumwana Expansion Project Team. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Assistant Construction Manager – LEP, you will be responsible for executing the construction of the Tailings Storage Facility and Water Storage Facilities (TSF/WSF), and that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
The TSF planned for the Lumwana Expansion will increase the current storage to 2 billion tonnes of tailings and will be among the largest tailings storage facilities globally. It will be constructed and raised significantly over the coming years and presents an exciting opportunity to be involved with a large TSF construction on a world-class project.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting in daily operations on the construction site, coordinating between various trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth progression of work.
• Integrate procurement, engineering, and execution as a single package for the TSF and water management facilities.
• Supervise and manage construction activities, including earthworks, concrete placement, and installation of facilities
• Ensure compliance with design specifications, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to achieve project objectives.
• Monitor progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate records, including daily reports, progress photos, and quality control documentation.
• Collaborate with the project team to resolve technical issues and improve construction efficiency.
• Ensure adherence to environmental and safety protocols.
To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
• Minimum of a Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field
• Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
• A minimum of 8 years construction experience in the mining industry and/or similar projects as a construction superintendent or manager, particularly TS and WSF construction
• Proven experience in construction management software
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in construction management
• MS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
