Job Summary: The Finance Intern will provide essential support to our finance department, assisting with all tasks. This role offers a valuable opportunity for an aspiring finance professional to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment, learn practical accounting principles, and contribute to the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Planning and Analysis
- Prepare and review periodic budgets and forecasts; analyse monthly management accounts with variance and exception reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Financial Controls and Compliance
- Strengthen internal controls and business processes to mitigate financial risk and ensure compliance with company and statutory policies and regulatory standards.
- Accounting and Reconciliations
- Manage general ledger functions, including posting journal entries, reconciling key accounts, processing cashbook transactions, and performing monthly bank and cash-on-hand reconciliations.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable Management
- Oversee end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, supplier payments, customer billing, collections, and monthly reconciliations (control accounts and age analysis).
- Budget Adherence and Procurement Oversight
- Monitor organizational expenditure to ensure adherence to budgets and compliance with procurement policies and approval protocols.
- Inventory and Warehouse Management
- Maintain inventory accuracy by managing stock codes and warehouse structures in Evolution, processing receipts and dispatches, and recording inter-warehouse stock transfers. Perform monthly inventory reconciliations
Person Specifications:
- A degree in Accounting / Finance or Professional Qualification (ACCA/CIMA)
- Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply a year or more experience is an added advantage.
- Software Proficiency, Enthusiasm, reliability, and the ability to multi-task.
- A self-starter who is sufficiently motivated and ambitious to work on their own initiative without unnecessary needing direction.
